Saruul-Erdene
Mongolian Specialist | The Library of Congress
Linguist, translator, writer and educator. Saruul-Erdene graduated from Mongolian National University of Education with a BA degree in Mongolian Language and Literature in 1994. Later, he earned his MA and Doctor’s degree in Linguistics in 1996 and 2002, respectively. Moreover, Dr Saruul-Erdene got invited as a visiting professor to the University of Istanbul from 2000 to 2001; and to the University of Indiana from 2002 to 2007. He also worked as a professor at the Foreign Service Institute, US Department of State. Since 2019, he has been working as a Mongolian Language Specialist at the Library of Congress. Currently, Dr. Professor Saruul-Erdene Myagmar serves as a President of the Mongolian Cultural Center in the USA, and a visiting professor of Mongolian State University of Culture and Art. He also authors Washington DC’ area’s local chapter of the “Daily News”, which is one of the leading Mongolian National Newspaper.

Born in Southern Mongolia in 1972, Enghebat Togochog came to the United States in 1998. In 2001, He established the Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center (SMHRIC), a New York based human rights organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights of the Mongolian people in the Chinese-occupied Southern Mongolia; he has been the Director of the SMRHIC since then until present; He is the editor-in-chief of the SMHRIC organizational newsletter “Southern Mongolia Watch” that is published in English, Japanese, Chinese and Mongolian; Since 1998 after his arrival in the United States, Enghebatu Togochog has testified on human rights conditions of Southern Mongolia before the United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, United Nations Forum on Minority Issues, United Nations Committee Against Torture, United States Congressional Commission on China, the United States Department of State, European Parliament and Scottish Parliament; He has been interviewed by major news media including TIME magazine, CNN, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, BBC, The Guardian, Reuters, Voice of America and Radio Free Asia, and many other news media outlets in European, Japanese, Chinese and Mongolian languages; His work includes the translation of the autobiography of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the Republic of Kalmykia; The Struggle for Civil Rights of the Kalmyk People by Dr. Djab Naminov Burchinov, The United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples; From Dictatorship to Democracy by Dr. Gene Sharp; Way Out of Southern Mongolia by Mr. Hada, a long time political prisoner and human rights defender; translation from Japanese to English of Genocide on the Mongolian Steppe by Dr. Oghnos Tsogt; He speaks Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese and English.
